ISTC Innovation Center will Promote Research Activities in Armenia

Innovative Solutions and Technologies Center (ISTC) in partnership with Enterprise Incubator Foundation and USAID launch a grant program the aim of which is to support the scientists involved in advanced technologies and to breathe new life into the collaboration between academy and industry, the official press release states.

ISTC will support projects undertaking innovation from the demonstration stage through to piloting, test-beds, systems validation in real world/working conditions. It targets relatively mature new technologies, concepts, processes and business models that need a last development step to reach the market and achieve wider deployment.

“The programs and funding possibilities for scientific and research areas are limited in Armenia at present. ISTC and EIF in partnership with USAID pursue the aim of promoting the scientific research in our country and creating a foundation for their further development”, head of ISTC acceleration programs Areg Gevorgyan noted.

Within the framework of ISTC Joint Research Grant program, the winners will be provided with possibility to use IBM cloud infrastructures and will receive a grant of $6000 for one-year research activities. In addition, they will also receive support for commercialization strategy development and applications for international grant programs.

Cooperation between research groups working with IBM and Armenian scientists and researchers will also be established. For achieving this, ISTC Research Travel Grant will be announced soon, due to which research groups from Armenia will be able to have experience exchange visits to USA universities cooperating with IBM.

ISTC is the joint program of RA Government, IBM, USAID, EIF and Yerevan State University. It aims at developing and stabilizing ICT education in higher educational institutions of Armenia, promoting research activities and supporting companies involved in ICT for developing innovative ideas and creating favorable environment for steady business development by means of providing the corresponding resources, technologies and knowledge.
